Candlelight Yoga with Essential Oils with Stacy TenHouten

In-Studio Pop-up Class
Join Stacy for a sacred evening of self-connection where the practices of yoga and essential oils are woven together by candlelight. In this intimate gathering, carefully selected oils will be chosen by Stacy to support the evening's journey.  The class will begin by learning the emotional wisdom of each oil, before taking time to anoint ourselves mindfully - creating a personal ritual that speaks to your own needs and intentions.

From this grounded space, the class moves into a gentle, breath-centered yoga practice that invites you to listen deeply to your body's wisdom. The soft glow of candlelight helps us turn inward, while the lingering aromatics of our oils remind us to stay present with each breath.

You'll leave feeling peaceful and renewed, carrying with you both the memory of this experience and a simple yet powerful ritual to support your daily practice of self-care and authentic living.

Myofascial Release and Corrective Exercise for Self-Care

This workshop will be both active and informative. You will learn to self-assess and understand your body’s malalignments, as well as any current movement patterns that have formed which may contribute to chronic postural problems, loss of mobility range, discomfort, or pain.

There has been a sharp rise in the number of people suffering from common musculoskeletal imbalances which aren’t brought on by an apparent injury. These imbalances can be caused by a number of factors: movement dysfunction, activity choices, prolonged static postures, footwear, surgeries, and sedentary lifestyles. Many of those suffering from such ailments do not need physical therapy but corrective exercise. The use of these assessments, self-myofascial release, restorative stretching, and corrective strengthening is fast becoming commonplace to remedy muscle and joint pain.

As a Corrective Exercise Specialist, Laura’s skill set is focused on addressing the body as a whole in order to identify underlying causes of chronic pain. We will build your body’s resilience together to help prevent harmful patterns from returning. We will be using the foam roller and other props to assist in our endeavors.

In this workshop we will both learn and practice by utilizing: structural assessments, myofascial release techniques, stretching, body centering, and corrective exercises. The benefits of this training will lead to a reduction of stress, improvement in active performance, and functional daily living.

Price: $65
Early-bird Price: $55 by March 29
Foam rollers and other required props will be provided.

Anatomy and Physiology Applied to Yoga: 2-Day Training with Andrew McGonigle

For yoga teachers, yoga teacher trainees, and experienced practitioners.

Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18, 2:30-6:30 PM

$200 for 8 contact hours

“The most useful and informative days that I have spend in years!” Jo W, Yoga Teacher

In this two-day training we will explore in detail the anatomy and physiology of our incredible human body applied to practising and teaching yoga. Each topic that we delve into will be related directly back to the asana practice. The sessions will be interactive and experiential and will vary between discussion, lecture, small group work, personal reflection and asana exploration. There will be a strong focus on using knowledge of anatomy to make asana practices as inclusive as possible. A detailed printed manual will be included.

The immersion is ideal for yoga practitioners with an established practice, who want to learn more about the human body, go deeper in their own yoga practice and develop a teaching style that is up to date, empowering and inclusive. We will explore anatomy to a depth that is appropriate for teaching yoga.

By the end of the weekend you will feel inspired and empowered to teach yoga to the best of your ability. You will have the confidence to breakdown any yoga asana with a clear understanding of the key actions and movements and know how to work with your own unique anatomy and that of your student.

Saturday Topics

An Introduction to Intelligent Movement Principals:

  • An introduction to muscle looking at its structure and function and how we can apply the knowledge of stretch reflexes to deepen our practice

  • The structure and function of bone and joints looking at both the importance and limitation of alignment and what limits our movement

  • Whether yoga alone can reverse bone loss

  • How a knowledge of fascia can impact our movement on and off the mat

  • The Nocebo Effect and choosing empowering language

  • What causes muscle tightness

  • Flexibility vs mobility

  • Anatomical language and how this can help us to remember the names of some of our muscles

Sunday Topics

A Detailed Exploration of the Lower Limbs:

  • An exploration of our feet and ankles looking at their structure and function and how we can apply this knowledge on and off the mat

  • Why our knee joints may be vulnerable to injury and how to support them

  • A detailed look at the hip joints focusing on what makes each of us so unique

  • Understanding Piriformis Syndrome

A Detailed Exploration of the Shoulder Complex:

  • An exploration of our shoulder joints and shoulder girdles looking at their structure and function

  • The importance of shoulder joint and girdle mobility and stability in our yoga practice

  • An evidence-based approach to Shoulder Impingement and general shoulder pain

  • Demystifying common cues such as “Draw your shoulders away from your ears” and “Roll your upper arms out” in Downward Facing Dog

This immersion counts towards CPD requirements for Yoga Alliance members (8 contact hours).
