An Embodied Book Club for Women
Six sessions of movement, writing, and conversation exploring Lisa Marchiano’s The Vital Spark
Somewhere under the niceness, the caretaking, and the endless competence lives the part of you that is wild, shrewd, and fully alive. Jungian analyst Lisa Marchiano calls it the vital spark — and her book maps eight “outlaw energies” that women are taught to bury: shrewdness, disagreeableness, desire, trickiness, sexuality, anger, authority, and ruthlessness.
This is not a sit-and-discuss book club. Each 90-minute session starts in the body: a short meditation drawn from the chapters, 40 minutes of guided movement, quiet time to write or draw, and then open conversation about what we’re reading. Come as you are. No movement experience needed; every practice is invitational and adaptable. Haven’t finished the chapters? Come anyway — each session begins in the body, not the book, and the discussion will meet you wherever you are in the reading.
Bring your copy of the book, a journal, and comfortable clothes.
