Myofascial Release and Corrective Exercise for Self-Care with Laura Gideon

In-Studio Workshop
Saturday, May 11, 2:30-5:00 PM

Foam rollers and other required props will be provided.

This workshop will be both active and informative. You will learn to self-assess and understand your body’s malalignments, as well as any current movement patterns that have formed which may contribute to chronic postural problems, loss of mobility range, discomfort, or pain.

There has been a sharp rise in the number of people suffering from common musculoskeletal imbalances which aren’t brought on by an apparent injury. These imbalances can be caused by a number of factors: movement dysfunction, activity choices, prolonged static postures, footwear, surgeries, and sedentary lifestyles. Many of those suffering from such ailments do not need physical therapy but corrective exercise. The use of these assessments, self-myofascial release, restorative stretching, and corrective strengthening is fast becoming commonplace to remedy muscle and joint pain.

As a Corrective Exercise Specialist, Laura’s skill set is focused on addressing the body as a whole in order to identify underlying causes of chronic pain. We will build your body’s resilience together to help prevent harmful patterns from returning. We will be using the foam roller and other props to assist in our endeavors.

In this workshop we will both learn and practice by utilizing: structural assessments, myofascial release techniques, stretching, body centering, and corrective exercises. The benefits of this training will lead to a reduction of stress, improvement in active performance, and functional daily living.
